Caramel Apple Pastry Bites (Print version)

# What You Need:

01 - Apple mixture
02 - Caramel candies, halved

03 - Prepared pastry dough, cut into squares

# How to Make:

01 - Place a small spoonful of the apple mixture and half a caramel candy in the center of each pastry square.
02 - Fold each square by pinching the corners together and thoroughly sealing the edges to enclose the filling, creating a pouch.
03 - Position the bites seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
04 - In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Lightly brush the tops of each pastry bite with the egg wash and, if desired, sprinkle with coarse sugar.
05 - Bake at 350°F for 16 to 18 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
06 - Allow bites to cool briefly before serving; note that the caramel filling will be hot.
